Hybrid camera-camcorder that worksStrengths: Small, 10x zoom. Weakness: Video format, no docking station, small LCD, button locations. I had been waiting for a hybrid camera camcorder and finally this was it. The ones I bought before had a lot of difficulty focusing during low light conditions, but this one is ok (not as good as my previous Panasonic though). The power button and the video start/stop button is in very bad places. I wish it recorderded in MPEG2 or MPEG4, which would make much longer recording. Also a docking...

Excellent Camera/CamcorderStrengths: Small size, good picture and video quality Weakness: Camera shake, SD card consumption, slightly awkward hand grasp I have been waiting many years for a camera/camcorder like this. As you read the reviews of other owners, some pick on really small details. This is not a perfect camera or a perfect video camera. It is an excellent combination of both features in a small package. For me, I wanted a small camera that can be taken on vacation. I was tired of hauling a camcorder and a camera. I've printed out some...

Get it ... U will get much than the priceStrengths: It is one of the best camera for recording clips. But need to practise how to still your hand while taking clips. Weakness: Cost is a bit high as compare to its facilities. Battery strength is very low. U can make a trip with one battery. Over all this camera is superb if u have passion for the following - 1. Optimum resolution. 2. Optimum Zoom. 3. Looks and small size. Most of the people consider above two points. But for me 3rd point is also important.

Great pictures and video in good lighting,...Strengths: Pictures and HD video in normal lighting are amazing, and 10x zoom is great. Weakness: Can only use right hand, indoor/low light shots are hit and miss I just took this camera on a trip with me to Hawaii, and was very excited to get to use the HD video, as well as have quality 7mp stills in a small package. I would say this camera can perform very well, but does have some drawbacks. Any picture you take in normal outside lighting is excellent as you would expect from a canon camera. I found it hard to take pictures with a sunset background...

My TX1 is travelling around the world (without me)Strengths: Zoom is very impressive and video quality looks great on a sunny day Weakness: Auto-focus is totally unreliable and almost every picture has poor focus. Noise levels are VERY high filming video indoors. Camera spends most of the time being repaired. I live in England and bought a TX1 in June. After 2 months of struggling to get any decent photos with it I sent it back to the retailer. Unfortunatley they would offer neither refund nor replacement and it has spent the last 3.5 months being repaired. It has been sent to Scotland twice and last I heard Canon UK were contemplating sending it back to USA or Japan for repair. I don't expec to see...

Canon TX1Strengths: Small size, HD capability Weakness: Battery life, focus response I bought this for taking picture and video of my kid. It is small and has most of features of canon cameras have. But if you get used to hold the standard cameras you will need some time to adjust it. You might need the second battery because the power is consumed quickly. The focus response is slow if you use it to take picture of kids less than 3 years old ( who can't wait you).

Canon TX1Strengths: HD video quality Weakness: somewhat awkward ergonomics, slow lens, price Received this camera for a couple of weeks. Love the video quality, though heavy on memory at 4.4Mb/sec! The lens is slow for F/3.5. Zoom is great. Overall very good (though can be better) for purpose of family video clips.

james bond's cameraStrengths: very portable! records in stereo sound which most point and shoot cameras do not. great HD 720p video Weakness: taking pictures requires a steady hand thanks to the way the button is placed. This Canon TX1 is the smallest, best HD video camera you'll find on the market. what makes this camera better than the competition is that it records in full stereo sound. Most Camera's of this small size only record in Mono. The picture quality is very good, and even low light recording is very descent. This truly is the smallest, greatest HD camera you will find. Buy it!

Excellent camcorder/still camera hybridStrengths: 720p HD resolution camcorder (must be in widescreen mode), small form factor, current prices Weakness: Still camera not as consistent, hard to find merchant selling USA version for cheap I have been thoroughly pleased with this Canon TX1 since I got it 3 months ago. I took it on a trip to Disney, and I captured lots of short video clips that I wouldn't have normally because it's so darn easy to carry around. I definitely wouldn't have carried my current miniDV camcorder on certain rides because of the bulk. The result was a great home video that the kids and wife very much...

Canon PowerShot TX1
THE GOOD: 10x optical zoom; optical image stabilization; 1,280x720, 30 frames per second HD video capture; very close-focusing SuperMacro mode. THE BAD: Extremely awkward design; so-so still image quality; sluggish performance; noisy at higher ISOs. THE BOTTOM LINE: The TX1s unique design is sure to turn heads, but its also quite awkward to use, and its still image quality isnt up to Canons usual... Top

Canon PowerShot TX1
Canon's TX1 is a hybrid digital camera that is surprisingly good at taking stills or video. Its 7.1 megapixel images are crisp, if a little oversaturated, and its HD video capture capability is encouraged by the included component video cable. Video from the Canon TX1 is nothing short of high definition in a letterbox format. Though this digital camera's articulating screen is small, at 1.8... Top

DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot TX1
The PowerShot TX1 is Canon's first venture into camera/camcorder hybrid territory, and the results are mixed. They've created a camera that's big on style and features, but lacking in terms of ergonomics, flash strength, movie recording times, and battery life. The TX1 also has to overcome another issue, and that's its price. It's hard to justify paying $500 for style, when Canon's own PowerShot... Top

Canon TX1 First Impressions Review
Bridging the gap between compact digital cameras and camcorders is the newly announced Canon PowerShot TX1. This 7.1-megapixel digital camera has a vertical design and folding LCD screen that harkens from camcorders. Its video technology goes even a step further by recording high definition movies. The TX1 has optical image stabilization on its 10x lens, along with face detection and red-eye... TopAdvertisement

Good Video, bad pictures
Strengths: small size, good video most of the time.
Weakness: pictures are bad outdoor, and worst indoor. video sometime take a second of two to re-focus whenever you move, or the subject moves.
I had a few digital camera before this, and this is the worst camera to use indoor. I expected the outdoor picture will be better, but they were not too much improvement either. The video are pretty good, except for the lack time to re-focus whenever the subject moves. Battery is weak, but you can buy more. I did not expect too much from this hybird, but I do expect it to perform at least as good...
