16.4x 4.7GB Branded DVD-R Media (100-pack Spindle)

Strengths: Price per disc. Fast recording. Good media for storing information from a computer.

Weakness: A few that caused errors on my DVR/DVD recorder.

When I used the discs to burn information on them from my computer, it was a fast process. Also, I used the discs to burn TV shows from my DVR/DVD recorder. Although most of these burned successfully, there were a few that resulted in errors (could not burn onto the disc).

Excellent media, with no match. Grab it if the price...

Strengths: Excellent stability. Full speed at 16x. Reliable MCC media.

Weakness: Price (usually)

This media is fantastic. My NEC burner never fails to burn it at 16x full speed, and never made a coaster.

The burned media is always very reliable - dvd-video, data dvd or divx movies. The media is MCC (as of Feb 2006), which is already famous for decent media production.

The only problem is its relatively high price. Grab it if you find it on sale.

16X 4.7GB DVD-R Media

Strengths: Everything

Weakness: None

Only one coaster so far, other than that...very reliable.

Others had problems with the way the cake box was being shipped and had a few of the top disks scratched. I ordered from newegg.com and all the dvd's were fine in my cake box. Good luck with the rest of you.

Excellent Quality

Strengths: No coasters, quick burning time

Weakness: None

I have burned well over 300 of these discs and have not had any coasters at all. With the discs being MCC, they are always ranked near the top of all the media codes. I highly recommend these DVDs to anyone who is look for quality discs that will burn fast and last a long time.

Verbatin DVD-R

Strengths: Best one. Certified by most DVD burners on a market

Weakness: None except price - still high.

Great quality. Most DVD Burners support Verbatin and Ricoh(RiData) media. Rarely burned bad - mostly related with memory and I/O issues. 16x is great for up-to-date burners. Recongized as 16x with no issues. Highly recommended.

Quality product

Strengths: 16x speed (although I rarely use it), price (with a few rebates I got an 100 pack for under $30)

Weakness: N/A

These discs are a great value. Verbatim backs up its name with such an affordable quality product. Would recommend to anyone interested in burning DVD's. I experienced no problems with the packaging, all 100 DVDs were usable for me.

Some of the best discs I've used, but needs better...

Strengths: Excellent burns at all speeds. No errors, play in all machines tested. Good surface for thermal printers.

Weakness: Top 6 or 7 discs in spindle were scratched/scuffed pretty badly.

I've bought and used these disks before, but never in the 100 pack spindle - usually 50 packs. These disks provide excellent burns at any speed (although I usually stick to 4x burning just to be on the safe side, since time isn't much of a factor). I've never had a failed or bad disk, and all of the 16x verbatims play flawlessly on every standalone player I've tested them with. My burner is a LG GSA-4163B with firware A105, and it works well with these disks - not a lot of buffer fluctuations like I've had with other disks.

Only complaint is that the first few disks on the top of the spindle had thick white scuffs on the writing surface - maybe the packaging needs to be redesigned. I set those aside to use as test disks when trying out new authoring software.

Otherwise, I can't recommend these highly enough, especially since there are a lot of good deals on them popping up regularly with rebates, etc.

Find them on sale, and give them a try.

Great disks

Strengths: Burns Quickly, reliably, no bad burns ever

Weakness: None

They are one of the best disks that you can buy! Burns great, and at 16x, they cannot be beat. I've burned at least over 100 of these at 8x and 16x and they truly cannot be beat. The disk quality is superb and will not go degenerate unlike cheap media. A+!

Power Burner - Over 5000

Strengths: I have burned over 5000 dvd's and I have had maybe one failure. Other brands returned a higher rate of failures.

Weakness: None that i have seen so far.

Quality, Dependablility and great pricing. I have tested all the brands and I have been using Verbatim ever since. I do large duplications and having a brand that "does what is says it will do" makes my job alot easier. Time is money and working in a faced paced environment such as I should not have to worry about what media I am using.

Verbatim always produces the best DVD discs. I've use them at 8x, 16x, never had any problem. Very reliable. To make your data safe, you defintely should choose Verbatim products.

Verbatim....A Constant Best....

Strengths: Very good bang for the bucks. Excellent speed with a trusted lifetime warranty and the always top notch MCC Media Code.

Weakness: 16x could be a little problematic for some burner. Nero disc quality score test using NEC could be misrepresented and underscored.

I have burn 50 discs so far with NEC 3520. I have one coaster where only 2 movies will played and the rest does not. The rest of the discs are very good as expected with MCC Media Code. Highly recommended as Verbatim always provide excellent bang for the bucks.

Verbatim 16x DVD-R 100pk

Strengths: Media quality is good. Discs burn fast at 16x.

Weakness: Cakebox is poorly designed.

The discs themselves are great, but unfortunately, the cakebox that they are shipped in is poorly designed, which causes the discs to get damaged during shipping. Usually the boxes are designed so that any weight placed on top will be distributed through the edge of the case and the center spindle. The lid of this particular box rests directly on the discs, so they are easily damaged when any weight is placed on the box.

In my case, the top two discs were scratched pretty bad. I've heard that other people have also noticed this problem where several of the discs were unusable. Other Verbatim 100pks, such as the 8x dvd-r's and cd-r's seem to be packaged much better.

These same discs purchased in a 50pk or jewel cases probably would be fine, but I would stay away from the 100pk spindle, especially if they will be shipped to you.

Verbatim 16x DVD-R

Strengths: Good quality, reliable and good price

Weakness: none.

Verbatim DVD medium has excellent quality. I haven't have any bad disc from my experience. This 16x performs good on my DVD write NEC 3500 and 3520, no single failure disc. And, it works on my Sony DVD player on DVD video.

verbatim dvd-r 16x

Strengths: flawless burning, no coasters, surface accepts label printing very well.

Weakness: none

I first tried a 25 pack of these dvd-r media, and now I will not buy anything else. These have been the most reliable and all around best storage media. I have not burned one single coaster, and my cd-printer can print on the entire surfaceof the dvd.

Great dvd media

Verbatim disks (MCC) are great and always reliable. I have been use many media, cd, dvd, many of them can not be read after a while, so I really need a reliable media, MCC is class I media, I like it. So does the 16x speed and good price.

Maybe I'm Unlucky

Strengths: Price, media code MCC04

Weakness: Defects - weird dye "seperation" or failed burn process

I tried these because they are less expensive and have a higher quality media code than the Sony media I have been using. I just finished a 100 spindle of the Sony DVD R and did not get any bad burns. I am on disk 4 of these Verbatims and they have visible defects like the dye is seperating. My burner will fail the burn process on every other burn or sometimes it will complete but the video will freeze when it plays over the defect. Call me unlucky. I’ll rate these as 3 stars but if I continue to get defective disks, the rating will drop... A few days later and on disk 10, I thought maybe my burner is going bad so I bought some cheap Memorex and I haven't gotten any bad burns. I am going to throw away these Verbatims and lower my rating to 1 star...

I really like these cheap Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD+R 100 Pack. It is really a good deal to burn data and musics, as well as movies. 100 pack for only 15 bucks.
