Canon LAH-DC20Strengths: Very Strong, Durable, Doesnt scratch easily Weakness: Doesnt Match the S2-IS, The hood, does not work well when shooting macro, lens cap does not fit. The Lens Adapter, and Hood work well when you are using an accesory lens, but when using the standard lens, the lens hood makes an black arc on the bottom of your photo when using the flash, because the flash is not high enough. Also, the adapter and hood are black, My S2 is silver. The factory lens cap that came with the S2 does not fit over the adapter or hood. LAH-DC20 Lens Adapter/Hood SetStrengths: Fits camera perfectly, color matches the S3, doesn't take up much space when disconnected from camera Weakness: Plastic construction, color does not match the S2 This simple item serves the purpose for which it was designed. This item allows you to connect the included lens hood and optional lenses and filters to your Powershot S2 IS or S3 IS camera. Canon LAH-DC20 Lens Adapter/Hood SetStrengths: Ease of use I guess. Weakness: None to speak of... it's just an adapter! :) I brought this adapter along with the Powershot S2 so that I could use the filter mount. As well as doing this, the hood helps protects the lens when you don't have the piece of detritus Canon calls a lens cap. All in all, it does what it says. 92% of readers found this review helpful. LAH-DC20 Lens Adapter/Hood SetStrengths: easy to attach, fits well Weakness: large size, different color than camera I bought this product with a UV filter at the advice of someone to protect the lens of my camera. I don't think it was necessary as I really did not have problems with my lens cap falling off. However, I do take a lot of pictures outdoors and figured I might as well protect my lens and improve the quality of my pictures at the same time. It was a good investment. LAH-DC20 Lens Adapter/Hood Set for PowerShot S2 IS...Strengths: Lightweight Weakness: color I purchased the LAH-DC20 Lens Adapter/Hood Set for PowerShot S2 IS Digital Camera. The camera is silver but adapter is black. Looks ugly but it works as it supposed to be. Lensmate makes silver and black adapter for S2 and S3. LAH-DC20Strengths: It is needed if you purchase the Canon S5 and want to use a teleconverter lens Weakness: none I brought this item thinking it was a lens when it is actually an adapter for a lens. It is two pieces the hood and the adapter, once you buy this item you have to buy the teleconverter lens which attaches to the front of the LAH-DC20. LAH-DC20Strengths: Good Tool! Weakness: It would be much better if it were aluminum and rubber. The plastic threads at the Hood end are very fragile, so I recommend installing a 1A filter between the adapter and hood. One precaution: when unscrewing the hood from the extension, use very little pressure, otherwise it distorts the hood and makes turning it very difficult. Canon S2 1S, S3 1S Len Adapter/HoodStrengths: Fits perfectly and is black to match the color of the S3 1S. Weakness: None,other than with the hood you may loose some light with close-up flash photos.Could result is some darkening in the photo. You need this adapter in order to use the Canon wide angle and telephoto accessories lens. Naturally both lens are sold separately. Not a lot of good or bad to say. Silver would be nicer
Strengths: Inexpensive but does the job.
Weakness: Black color does not match silver camera body.
The kit is pretty nice and inexpensive. It weighs less than an ounce in total, and allows you to use the full range of available 58 mm filters on your S2. At the very least, any camera owner would benefit from a basic UV filter to improve contrast in hazy conditions, and to protect the camera lens at all times. When you are shooting in super macro mode, the adapter and filter assembly come off of the camera with a push of a button. As the old line goes, if your camera lens never gets dirty, you never have to clean it, and it will never get scratched. The second bonus is that you can buy a quality circular polorizing filter, and be amazed at the improvement in contrast, and the reduction of glare they can make in many typical photos. The one thing not so great is the black color, which does not match the silver camera body.
