Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD Arm

Strengths: It is solid metal construction, sleek modern design, fully articulating, nice aluminum color that matches my Samsung monitor, and holds the monitor in place without fading.

Weakness: none that I can find so far.

I had been searching for a modern looking, nicely designed monitor arm for a decent price for several weeks. The all-metal arms that I first looked at were over $200, well over my budget. Arms that were under $100 looked flimsy and tacky in my opinion, until I found the Ergotron. It is everything I set out to find: completely functional and solid, all metal, comes with grommet attachment AND desk clamp, so I can change the attachment without having to order new parts. Silver color, sleek, curved, modern look. I highly recommend it.

A great upgrade for the monitor

Strengths: Great functionality; Space-saving

Weakness: Somewhat loose joints Poor instruction although clear illustration

Most of the stands that come with LCD monitors are just
too ugly, yet allow only tilting the monitors backward and forth. I purchased this Neo-Flex LCD arm at the same time
as I bought a new Acer X221wsd LCD monitor. It
turned out to be a very good investment. For the total price I paid for the monitor + stand ($245 + $67 = $312),
I got a solid performer LCD monitor that can tilt,
swivel, rotate, as well as easily adjust the height of
the monitor. It is great that I can rotate the monitor into portrait mode and browse through long document easily. Best part is that it also free up my desktop space since the arm is clamped at the edge of the desk. It also comes with adapters to allow grommet mount. You simply can't find a single LCD panel that provide all these functionality at this price range.

The adjusting mechanism of the Neo-Flex LCD arm is
not all that intuitive, but after a little getting
used to, it is not that bad. It has an extension
arm that can be removed. To tighten each joint you
need to use the included hexagonal wrench-- not
exactly convenient, but acceptable. If I have any real
compliant against this product, it will be that the
axis supporting the tilting movement is a little too
loose. Whenever I try to adjust the height, the monitor
tend to tilt down as well. Considering that I don't
really move the monitor that frequently, it is not
unbearable. The manufacturer recommends to use it for
monitors under 18 pounds. I suspect that the loose
joints could be more of a problem for monitors of 13 lbs
and above. But compared to many professional products in
the price range of $200 and above, this LCD arm is a bargain.

One last note: if you do not want to pay over $60
dollars just for a stand, at least consider buying
the Neo-Flex 33-310-060 for around $35. It also
allows all the tilting/swiveling/rotation/height
adjustment, but it takes up a small desktop space.
Overall I feel the Neo-Flex LCD arm as an worthy
upgrade for my LCD panel. Would definitely buy again.

Sleek & Sound

Strengths: Price, Looks, Build

Weakness: Instructions (for some)

Not much to add to the other positive reviews. The good design and quality build make the value of this arm unbeatable. The only negatives I noticed, were the lack of words on the intruction manual - just pictures - which may not be ideal for some. Also, two of the joints were factory-tightened way too tight to be loosened by a casual computer user. The force needed to undo them was unnecessary.

The perfect monitor stand

Strengths: Solid heavy metal; wide range of movement; clears desktop space

Weakness: Joints could be problematic; instructions are not too clear

Fact: all default LCD monitor stands are an after-thought by the manufacturers. They only provide, at best, two adjustments (limited height and small tilt) or, at worst, no adjustments. The Ergotron Neo-Flex is the “perfect” monitor stand for LCD monitors. The box contains all the necessary screws for either clamp or grommet (drill holes) mount. I have a very good desk and I don’t want to drill holes so I used the clamp. However, it appears (though not 100% certain) that the pre-drilled holes on some desks for cables are good enough for the grommet mount. The unit has rubber padding at the mounting area so that it will not mar or scratch the desk (for both mounting options).
The Good:
1. This mount is made of solid and heavy metal. One could tell by lifting and feeling it.
2. This mount has two joints for lateral movement, one joint for vertical movement, one joint for tilting and one joint for rotating the monitor. The manual contains instructions for removing one of the arms for the lateral movement, if required. In short, this mount allows full movement of the monitor.
3. The most important: It clears my desktop from the footprint of the monitor.
The Bad:
1. The paper manual is skimpy. It has instructions in at least nine languages. For some reason, English appears twice. It has diagrams but lacks verbal description.
2. There are too many tools: three hex and one regular wrenches. Don’t lose them because you need them to tighten the various nuts and bolts when they loosen, which they eventually will.
In comparison to the other LCD mounts in the market, this is the best in turns of price/performance ratio. There is a weight limit of 18 lbs. I used it on an Acer 22” which is around 15 lbs, which is very close to the weight limit. I think (not certain) that because of the weight some joints might loosen in time. Save those wrenches!
It has a crude cable management system. The cable management system appears to be an after-thought. It consists of two plastic clamps along the arms. The clamps just hold the cables to the arm. Nothing fancy but it does the job.

Great product

Strengths: Saves space, works great, low price.

Weakness: Clamp does not work on my table. Had to drill hole to use grommet mount.

This thing is great! Looks really cool and saves lots of space. Well worth it when you look at the investment you made in your LCD. I was worried it might not take the weight of my 20" widescreen, but it was fine, once I tightened two of the adjustment screws.
