Nothing as enormoursly talented as Planet Earth...Strengths: Quality, Quantity and Price Weakness: Missing Behind the scenes and The future. I had always wanted this since I watched it on Discovery. But, I went in for the original BBC version. After all there is nothing like watching the original production. Above that Sir David Attenborough's voice adds up. Unfortunately, the Blu-ray does not have the Future and behind the scenes (only available on DVD set). But there is no comparison between the crisp and clear image quality of Blu-ray with DVD. Also, some say its not 1080p but 1080i. However, I could not figure that out so far. May be it will take another couple of days to get to that. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Planet Earth Blu-RayStrengths: Fantastic HD video and surround sound. Great commentary. Spans all corners of the Earth - high/low, north/south, etc. Weakness: Makes you wish you had a higher-end system to show it off. This box set is a must-have if you have a Blu-Ray player and want to show off your High-Definition system. It has breath-taking scenes and such vivid colors, you wonder how they filmed everything. It has great surround sound, and excellent narration. The price (online anyway) is pretty good too considering you're getting 4 Blu-Ray discs. This box set will not disappoint you! Planet Earth - The Complete Collection (2007).Strengths: Great in HD Weakness: None Beautiful and informative series. I bought this for my 20 yr. old son for Christmas and he loved it. The whole family has watched many of the episodes and we all enjoy it - it is fantastic on an HD TV and it gets everyone talking about the environment and other worthwhile topics. Greatest nature series of all timeStrengths: High quality video (especially HD DVD and Blu Ray versions), David Attenborough narrates the series, BBC series, takes you all over the world, cinematography is outstanding! Weakness: BluRay and HD DVD versions eliminate extras available in the DVD version (future of planet earth and planet earth diaries). This is one of the best purchases made in years. Those that have high definition media players will want to pick this up to show off the full capabilities of this show. I love each episode. Highly recommended. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Must buy for HD DVD owners or nature lovers
Strengths: Absolutely stunning scenery. Excellent breadth of topics. An epic nature collection
Weakness: Locales can jump around a bit. So so depth of topics
Anyone who has seen this series on Discovery knows what they are getting: one of the most dramatic and beautiful nature programs available. The camera work and scenery are just amazing, and are often jaw dropping.
There are about 10 hours of video on this collection, and the variation of topics is excellent. Organization is as good as can be for a series like this, but the locations often jump somewhat abruptly, creating a slight sense of disorientation. However, for a 10 hour series to cover the entire Earth, a little bit of shifting from one location to another is probably expected.
In all it's full HD glory, this series absolutely shines. The narration is quite good, also. (I prefer this one over the American version narrated by Sigourney Weaver)
