Walt Disney Video The RookieGood family movie, althought the plot and the acting are only decent. Nothing impressive, but i would recommend this to someone wanting to sit down and watch a good family movie. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Walt Disney Video The RookieI would really give this a 3.5 it was a good movie Dennis Quaid plays a chemistry teacher who coaches the highschool baseball team and when the team finds out he can through fast balls they make a deal with him that if they start winning their games that he would have to try out for a baseball team. Of course they start winnig more so he goes and tries out for a team. I like how this was based on a true story. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Walt Disney Video The RookieHow often can you find amovie these days that's rated G? And you'll like it. Dennis Quaid comes across as a real baseball player. No kidding - the guy's got an arm. The high school stuff is a little melodramatic, but it's based on a true story and it's a way to get some real emotion into the movie. All in all, it's a feel good picture where a good man grows up to live his boyhood dream. It's worth seeing for everyone from ages 4 to 104. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

The Rookie
A heart-warming sports flick, The Rookie greatly benefits from understated direction and the emotional honesty Dennis Quaid brings to the role of Jim Morris. TopCompare PricesAdvertisement

Walt Disney Video The Rookie
I have to admit, when we popped this in the DVD player, I was skeptical to say the least. Disney has come out with half a dozen of these movies featuring the same basic story--worst place team gets it all together and wins the championship (i.e. Little Giants, Mighty Ducks, Big Green, Ladybugs, etc.). I was expecting pretty much the same thing here, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's based on the true story of Jim Morris, who becomes a major league ballplayer at the age of 35. He coaches a small town team in Texas, and they bet him that if they win the district championship, he'll have to try out for a major league team, and even though it's predictable what happens next, it does have it's factual background to back it up. Very heartwarming, and very much worth watching.
