Anatomy of a Murder [DVD] [1989] [1 disc]...

A great courtroom drama with a bit of mystery as well. One of Jimmy Stewart's best efforts and a great jazz score. Lee Remick was sexy and vulnerable and Ben Gazarra was perfect for his part. Considered a bit raunchy in it's day due to the panties in the courtroom scene and it dealt with the subject of rape.

Anatomy of a Murder [DVD] [1989] [1 disc]...

Anatomy of a Murder is the all-time best courtroom drama. Its the second most realistic (Philadelphia was the most realistic in its depiction of the tedium of the presentation of evidence in even the most dramatic of real life court cases). Probably the only courtroom drama with a jazz score. The film originated the famous question When did you stop beating your wife? Perfect for first year law students who want to learn about the rules of evidence, not to mention a good illustration of the differences between the insanity defenses of the inability to distinguish good from evil and irresistible impulse. Good illustration of why an attorney in cross-examination should be very wary of asking a question to which he does not know the answer. Kind of dark. Cynical. But also idealistic in an odd sort of way. It takes a bit of depth to understand why justice is in fact accomplished by the outcome. You have to really believe in due process.

Anatomy of a Murder [DVD] [1989] [1 disc]...

This is a real masterpiece. Not only one of the best movies about judgments in the History but one of the best I´ve ever seen. Incredible group of characters performed by actors like James Stewart, Ben Gazzara or the beautiful Lee Remick.Preminger doesn´t need to show you the characters more than a minute for you to know them well. That´s classic cinema. Fine camera movements, great use of the time (not the videoclips we are used to see these days) and a marvellous script that doesn´t use the flashbacks in order not to give you subjective information, you only know what happened thanks to what characters say. You can believe it or not. That´s intelligent. Because at the end, ¡you can only still supposse what happened!. If you haven´t seen it, ¡go and look for it!, I promise you won´t regret.
