Treasure of the Sierra MadreA masterpiece. Huston is magnificent, and Bogart is near his best. A fine script, brilliant direction and some scenes that have become legendary..... "Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges...." Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Treasure of the Sierra MadreAnother great classic Bogey-Huston collaboration. I thought Walter Huston stole the picture. Bogey goes a bit overboard when he comes down with gold fever. Otherwise a great picture. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Treasure of the Sierra MadreBogart is at his best as a good guy (Frederick B. Dobbs) who comes down with deadly case of gold fever in the classic morality tale. Walter Huston and Tim Holt also give fine performances as iconic scenes ("Stinking badges" and the "Walter Huston dance") pepper this tale of greed and futility. Little Bobby Blake makes an appearence as the Mexican boy that sells Bogie the winning lottery that serves as the financial grubsteak needed to get the expedition off and running. Classic scenes from this film have been hilariously parodied in the ensuing years following it's release including a great Bugs Bunny take-off and Bart, Millhouse, and Martin Prince playing the principals (Bart had Bogie's role)in a Simpson's episode where the boys pool their funds to buy a rare comic book. Treasure of the Sierra MadreThis is a John Huston tale of gold and the greed and betrayal that it brings out in people. Bogart plays his usual role but it works here. Remember, Badges? We don't need no steenking badges! This is where that phrase originated. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Treasure of the Sierra MadreI'm stunned that this movie isn't more appreciated here. I'm a big fan of Bogart, but Walter Hustons performance sticks with me most. It definitely makes my all time top ten. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Treasure of the Sierra MadreEverybody remembers the famous line "badges? we don't need no stinking badges". The lesson, of course, is that greed is never good, and will wind up causing you to lose everything, and that's exactly what happens. Not a completely satisfying ending, but I guess it had to be that way to get the point across. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Treasure of the Sierra MadreThis is my favorite movie of all time. How this didn't sweep the Oscars is beyond me.Bogart,Walter Huston, the father of the director and the grandfather of Anjelica, and Tim Holt star. Two disillusioned drifters decide to enlist the aide of a grizzled prospector and search for gold in the Sierra Madres in Mexico.Walter Huston has a forboding speech concerning the evil that gold can do.The men start out on a long and arduous trek into the mountains. All is well until the gold starts piling up.This movie shows the changes that a person undergoes in life. The scene where each man repeatedly goes out into the night to make sure their gold stash is still safe sets the tone for the rest of the movie. They survive banditos,Indians and others looking to take a piece of their action. But can they survive themselves? Treasure of the Sierra MadreBogey made a fan out of me with this one. All-male cast - shows Bogey's degradation from a tramp to a greedy, evil tramp - not that great of a transformation, which is why his subtle acting is so stunning. You hate him, but in a wierd way, you root for him. Superb acting by Bogey. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Treasure of the Sierra MadreThe Treasure of the Sierra Madre is one of the greatest westerns ever made. It has an intriguing plot, lots of adventure, well drawn characters, and not too many of the cheap stereotypes that bring down many old westerns. And it contains the classic line, "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!" Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top
